The American Urological Association is the premier association for the advancement of urologic patient care. We are actively recruiting a Director of Research.
POSITION:
The Director of Research in coordination with the Chair of Research will develop and implement a pro-active agenda of activities to achieve AUA’s research goals and priorities in the area of federal and other urology research funding opportunities. Serves as liaison with all federal, non-federal and special interest patient groups in the area of urology research funding (i.e. NIDDK, NCI, SBUR). Oversees meetings and other work of the AUA Research Council. Disseminates new knowledge and initiates federally funded research contracts. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the department, providing supervision and guidance to staff. Assures responsible development and management of the department’s budget.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will possess an M.D. or Ph.D. in medically related science preferred. Personal research experience, preferably in urology-related research with prior federal funding within last five years required. Familiarity with NIH grants application process required. Must have highly effective personnel management and interactive skills with diverse individuals including physicians, healthcare officials, legislators, NIH officials and research colleagues. Proven ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
